It's been an interesting week here on USF's campus.

Kristin Kray
Last Thursday I wore one of my corps shirts to class. One of the guys sitting in front of me was thrilled to know I marched corps. He was in the pit with the Kiwanis Kavaliers. We spent some time discussing corps and why we marched where we did. It turns out we had a lot in common on why we both wanted to march in corps that are in the lower Division I standings. After a few minutes we started talking about which top 12 corps we would most like to march in. He wants to go to Spirit. Me, either Spirit or Crown. (Can you say road trip to Alabama next month?) Monday I spent some time hanging out at the music building. I had a lesson with one of my friends, Shane, and then attended his studio class. There were about 10-15 players in the class. As each person went up to play the piece, Shane would tell me each person that marched corps and where they marched. Blue Devils, Cavaliers, Crossmen, Southwind and Pioneer were all the corps represented in the class. Within the school of music, Spirit, Boston Crusaders, Kiwanis Kavaliers, and possibly a few other corps are represented here on campus. It's been an interesting week here. I've heard many corps stories from different people and have gained a lot of knowledge on what to expect from a top 12 corps. Kristin Kray is an 18-year-old freshman at the University of South Florida in Tampa, majoring in special education. She marched soprano for Pioneer in 2001-2002, and hopes to march trumpet for Carolina Crown next summer.
