From the Santa Clara Vanguard Web site: Drum corps veteran Denise Bonfiglio has been named the staff coordinator for the Santa Clara Vanguard. In this role, Denise will take on the responsibility of hiring and managing the design and instructional staff for the Vanguard. According to general manager Dan Vannatta, "This will be Denise's seventh season with the Santa Clara Vanguard. We are very excited Denise has accepted this role." Along with Denise's impressive background in pageantry, she is a vice president at MetLife and recently celebrated her 25th anniversary with the company. With regards to the filling the program manager/Vanguard corps director role in the Santa Clara Vanguard organization, the board of directors is progressing along an established process to ensure the best possible candidate is found for the position. A screening committee consisting of members from both within and outside the organization will review the submitted applications. Preliminary interviews will be conducted with those applicants meeting the criteria, followed by the board of directors conducting final interviews. We expect to announce the new director in the beginning of October. Rick Valenzuela will be continuing in his present role until the end of October to ensure as smooth a transition as possible.
