From a Blue Knights press release: The Blue Knights have been out on tour now for a week and we were able to catch up with Director Mark Arnold for this brief interview.

Question: How are things going out there on the road for the corps? Arnold: I'm really pleased with how we are coming together as an organization. First tour is always about working out all of the logistics that go into providing for 160 persons on the road, and therefore, is a very challenging time. Not only is it important to develop a strong team when it comes to the marching members, getting the staff, cooks, drivers and management to "gel" is of equal importance. I've been through this process a few times and would have to say I feel we are in for a great summer along these lines.

Question: You have had three shows now, how do you feel about the competitive placement of the corps? Arnold: We really try and not spend too much time worrying about placements at these early shows. Our main goal right now is to set the corps up for success down the road. The whole point of getting the members working as a team with the staff and operating efficiently on and off the field is of the utmost importance at this time. That being said, remember, the placements of the corps have a way of making extreme changes between now and the end of the summer. However at this point, our numbers have consistently gone up and we are in the "mix." We can't ask for much more.

Question: Anything else you would like to add? Arnold: I would like to extend a huge thanks to all of those out there that have made this summer a reality for these kids. With the limited number of volunteers we have stepping up to help on a regular basis, I realize the extreme sacrifices many of you are making. Hopefully you will all be at Drums Along the Rockies enjoying the fruits of your labor!
