Drum Corps International's own were well represented last Sunday as STRYKE, an indoor percussion group based out of Palm Beach, Fla., performed as part of the pre-game festivities at the NFL's biggest game, Super Bowl XLIV in Southern Florida.

Among the ensemble of more than 20 percussionists were eight members with previous drum corps experience including D.J. MacLeod (Carolina Crown, Teal Sound), Carlos Rodriguez (Carolina Crown, Blue Stars), Darrell Fletcher (Southwind), Eric Triola (Carolina Crown, Kiwanis Kavaliers), J.P. Infante (Carolina Crown, Kiwanis Kavaliers), Jason Walker (Teal Sound), MariAlex Michalakos (Teal Sound), and Michael Kolar (Blue Stars). The group is led by a staff with credentials from 12 of some of DCI's most notable corps.

"This was an amazing experience for the members, staff, support staff and the fans," said STRYKE Executive Director Scott Hughes. "People who were attending said that they felt everything going on—that we were absolutely the best entertainment!"

In addition to Super Bowl Sunday, STRYKE members were in action the previous weekend during the NFL Pro Bowl, which was played outside of Hawaii for the first time in more than 30 years.

Don't miss STRYKE members as they get set for their competitive season, ultimately working their way to the Winter Guard International Percussion World Championships in Dayton, Ohio, April 15-17.
