A memorial was held Tuesday, Oct. 4 in honor of the late Louisiana music educator Marty Hurley. Hurley, who passed away on Sept. 12 at the age of 65, served as Phantom Regiment percussion arranger and caption head in the late '70s and '80s. Read more about Marty Hurley. The gathering on Tuesday took place at Brother Martin High School in New Orleans. Attended by hundreds of supporters, a highlight of the memorial included performances of Hurley-composed cadences by the drum lines of Brother Martin, Louisiana State University, the University of Southern Mississippi, University of Louisiana Lafayette, and others, including Phantom Regiment alumni.
