Sixty-one drum majors representing 36 corps gathered in Atlanta at the end of January to take part in an interactive seminar geared toward learning from one another and developing leadership skills.

“We’ve been learning about different leadership styles and techniques,” said Southwind drum major Kyra Moyer. We did a little bit of conducting 101, [learned] how to take care of first-year members and how to establish a leadership team … [all] things that will help us run the corps day-to-day.

“This is one of my favorite weekends of the year,” said Carolina Crown drum major Ross Werner, who has attended this leadership seminar on multiple occasions. “Being surrounded by so many talented people—It’s always a new opportunity to learn and grow as a musician, conductor and person.”
