My husband Roger and I took our then 13-month-old son Ryan to watch the Cadets practice when they were staying at Lewisburg School in Desoto County, Miss. We wanted to see how he'd react to a drum corps in person. We hoped he'd enjoy the horn line, because we are both horn players, but to our surprise he kept looking for the other noise. We realized he wanted to see the snare line warming up. We took him over there and every time the drum line began playing cadences he would wave his arms up and down mocking them. It looked like he was directing them! Here he is directing the drum line warm up. He loved it!
