Drum Corps International personnel, corps directors, instructors, Tour Event Partners, Hall of Fame members, and more, will march their way down to Atlanta this weekend for the annual DCI winter meetings and workshops taking place from Jan. 25-28. These annual sessions represent the biggest conclave of Drum Corps International persons outside of the competitive season, and are designed specifically for various factions to take care of general business as well as to educate, instruct and inform all in attendance. "I'm happy that the entire Drum Corps International family has the opportunity to come together here prior to the start of the season for the mutual sharing of information and for the continued positive evolution and growth of what we do to support those who perform on the football field every summer," said Drum Corps International Executive Director Dan Acheson.

The Atlanta Sheraton will be the site of the
2007 DCI winter meetings and workshops.
More than 300 registrants will be at this year's meetings and workshops, which is expected to be the best attended in Drum Corps International history. Sessions are broken down into three tracks specifically designed for corps directors, instructors and the DCI Tour Event Partners who are the individuals who handle the logistics and production of localized Drum Corps International sanctioned events throughout the summer. Morning round-table and breakout sessions, however, allow all groups to interact with each other before moving into more specialized programming. Among some of the sessions scheduled for this weekend:
  • A discussion on the future of drum corps adjudication
  • A music-focused workshop on sound engineering
  • The DCI Hall of Fame luncheon where the Hall of Fame class of 2006 will be formally recognized by the Drum Corps International community
  • A summit of doctors and medical personnel to discuss health and wellness topics related to marching music
  • Meetings of the DCI Board of Directors
  • A marketing workshop for Tour Event Partners that focuses on messaging strategies and basic media training
  • Discussion and voting on the 2007 DCI rules proposals
