Drum Corps International will again be present at the venerable Drum Corps Associates World Senior Championships in Scranton, Pa., this upcoming weekend at Lackawanna County Stadium -- we'll be selling lots of great merchandise in the souvenir marketplace. Swing by to pick up copies of DCI's popular "Legacy" DVD series, DCI CDs and both volumes of "A History of Drum & Bugle Corps." That book's publisher, Steve Vickers (also the longtime publisher of Drum Corps World), will be available at the DCI souvenir booth to sign copies of the history books following Saturday's preliminary competition, following the alumni show on Sunday afternoon and prior to Sunday evening's finals. The first hardcover volume of "A History of Drum & Bugle Corps" was published in 2002 and contains 432 pages, with more than 1,400 photographs and illustrations. It is a general overview of the history of the drum and bugle corps activity and contains prelim and final scores from all major junior and senior competitions from 1921 until 2001. Volume 2, also hardcover, contains 432 pages and has more than 1,400 photographs and illustrations. About 75 percent of the book is devoted to profiles of 86 selected junior and senior corps from over an 80-year span since the activity began with the first American Legion national competition in 1921. "A History of Drum & Bugle Corps" or Drum Corps International products are also available online at DCI.org or by calling 1-800-495-7469 (outside of the U.S. call 630-628-7888). DCI accepts VISA, MasterCard and American Express.
