From a Glassmen press release: The impressive sounds of brass and percussion will fill the air and raise the roof as the Glassmen join with the Valentine Theatre of Toledo, Ohio, to co-present a thrilling performance on Sunday, May 22, 2005, at 3 p.m. The concert, an annual benefit for members of the Valentine Theatre, has just been opened to the public. This will be the Glassmen's first performance at the historic Valentine Theatre. Although they will soon enter into their 44th season, the Glassmen have been especially busy in the Toledo area these last few years, celebrating their 10th Annual All-Star Review competition at the University of Toledo, the annual favorite Point Place Memorial Day Parade, last spring's sold-out Toledo Symphony concert revival collaboration of the rousing finale of Respighi's "Pines of Rome," as well as join projects with the Lima and Rochester Hills symphonies, and Maumee High School. Other special performances include the Toledo Zoo "Music Under the Stars" series, and the new Glassmen "Entertrainment" Educational Clinic Series, presented locally and nationally for students and music educators. On a national scale, the corps has consistently participated as a finalist in Drum Corps International World Championship competition. The 108-year-old Valentine Theatre is a 901-seat facility operated by the Toledo Cultural Arts Center, Inc. The recently renovated great stage and legendary proscenium are beautifully appointed in warm reds, browns, cream and gold and manages to evoke the lost Victorian splendor within a completely modern, up-to-date performance hall. In just the five years since the renovation, the theatre has presented 400 national, international, and local diverse shows including musicals, dance, popular music and jazz. Tickets for this one-time only Glassmen performance range from $15 to $34 and can be purchased from the Valentine Theatre Box Office, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The box office is located at 400 N. Superior Street in downtown Toledo. Tickets can also be purchased with Visa or MasterCard by phone at 419.242.2787 or online at www.valentinetheatre.com.
