Ron Hardin has been promoted to visual caption head for the Santa Clara Vanguard for the 2003 season. This will be Hardin's third year on the visual staff. Hardin will also act as the staff coordinator. Hardin will continue to bring his extensive knowledge and experience gained through his years as a drum corps instructor, band director, and designer to SCV. "Ron is a great compliment to one of the best drill writers around in Myron Rosander. It's made for a great team," says corps director Rick Valenzuela. Myron Rosander will be the Visual Designer, a positioned he's had since 1987. Rosander will also be actively involved with the show design as well as involved with the Corps as he has been since his first year on staff in 1985. Hardin's additional drum corps experience includes involvement with Velvet Knights, Star of Indiana, Allegiance Elite, Yamato and the Santa Clara Vanguard. He is also the past conductor and founder of the Diablo Wind Symphony. He has judged marching band competitions and percussion contests around the country. Ron has also designed shows for numerous high schools, colleges, drum corps, winter guards, winter percussion lines and marching bands. His involvement with Winter Guard International is extensive, serving as a percussion adjudicator and as Director of The Friendship Cup. Ron has served as President of the Contra Costa County Band Director's Association and Vice-President of the Western Band Association.Hardin is currently Director of Bands at Bellevue East High School, in Bellevue, Neb., where he lives with his wife, Molly, and their two daughters.
