The second-annual Heartland International Music & Dance Tattoo will take place March 31-April 1, 2007, on the campus Northern Illinois University in Dekalb, Ill.
A tattoo is an old-world European tradition that celebrates the musical heritage of civilian and military units. This event, which encompasses displays of both music and dance, will showcase a cornucopia of bagpipe bands, brass bands, drum and bugle corps, Irish and Scottish dancers, singers and other musical groups. In all, performing groups will make up a cast of more than 350 civilian and military entertainers. Among the performing drum corps groups will be the Classic Cavaliers alumni drum corps and the Cavaliers' Green Thunder Percussion Ensemble. Green Thunder Percussion will hold the First Annual Heartland International Tattoo Percussion Clinic on Sunday, April 1. Also featured at the tattoo will be the U.S. Navy Band (Great Lakes, Ill.), Scarborough Pipe Band (Canada), Camp Chase Fifes and Drums (Chillicothe, Ohio) and the McNulty Irish Dancers (Chicago), among others.
