Drum Corps International's 2012 World Championships officially kicked off on Monday, Aug. 6, as 14 corps from across the country converged in Michigan City, Ind. for the Open Class Semifinals. It's the fifth anniversary of Open Class World Championship competition at Ames Field, a stadium built in 1995 with drum corps fans in mind. With Oregon Crusaders taking a 1.95 lead over the nearest competition, the top 12 corps from Monday's event also including Blue Devils B, Vanguard Cadets, Spartans, 7th Regiment, Genesis, Gold, Legends, Music City, Raiders, Revolution and Colt Cadets will square off on Tuesday for the chance to be named Open Class World Champion.
