Drum Corps International, for the first time, will be handling sales of "A History of Drum & Bugle Corps" and the latest issues of Drum Corps World at the DCI merchandise booth during the last half of the 2003 season. Sights & Sounds, Inc. self-published volume 1 of "A History of Drum & Bugle Corps" in June 2002. It is a hardcover book with 432 pages and includes more than 1,400 photographs, scores from major competitions between 1921 and 2001, along with a master list of more than 7,000 junior and senior drum and bugle corps that have existed during the last eight decades. The second volume of "A History of Drum & Bugle Corps", also a 432-page hardcover book, also contains more than 1,400 photographs along with profiles on 86 selected junior and senior drum and bugle corps that have existed between 1921 and the present, plus overviews of judging, drum corps in the armed forces and a listing of drum and bugle corps publications since 1940, plus much more. Both volumes of the history book will be on sale -- including volume 2 for the first time -- beginning on the weekend of July 11-12 in DeKalb, Ill., at THE Midwest Championships.
