Submitted by the Cavaliers: The Cavaliers held their first rehearsal camp of the 2007 season from Jan. 4-7 at Triton College in River Grove, Ill. The camp was dedicated to call-back auditions from the four previous clinic/audition camps held in November and December, and focused on setting the brass, color guard and percussion section's membership. During the rehearsal, members continued to develop the techniques and methods used by the Cavaliers for movement, music and equipment, and two separate sessions were held to begin the corps' winter fitness program. All of the Cavaliers' music designers and caption heads were present during the weekend as the first few minutes of the introductory music for the corps' 2007 Billy Joel-inspired program was taught to and rehearsed by the brass and percussion sections on Sunday morning. "I continue to be amazed at the talent level of the young men who audition for the Cavaliers each year—and I'm talking about those members we accept, as well as the young men we unfortunately have to decline," said the Cavaliers' corps director Jeff Fiedler. "This four-day January camp has increased our momentum into the new year. While members were pushed hard during rehearsals, they departed on Sunday anxious to return in February to learn the next segment of the 2007 program. They're very excited about the structure of the show and the music they have worked on as a full ensemble so far," said Fiedler. www.cavaliers.org
