The Kingsmen Alumni Corps have released a video of the five-day rehearsal camp that took place from June 20-24 at California Baptist University in Riverside, Calif. The camp was very successful and well attended with nearly all of the 281 registered members making an appearance over the five-day period. The 2007 alumni corps will include 28 original members from the Drum Corps International World Champion Kingsemen of 1972, and they will perform an 11 minute program of marching formations and music as well as a traditional concert number. The corps learned the final portion of their show during the Memorial Day weekend practices, and the June rehearsals were spent cleaning and polishing the entire program.
Members of the Kingsmen Alumni Corps will debut their entire field show on July 14 at Veterans Stadium in Long Beach, Calif. This Drum Corps International competition hosted by Impulse will be one of three field performances by the unit. The corps also will host their own dress rehearsal on Aug. 8 at Veterans Stadium, and the third and final performance of the group will be on Aug. 10 at the DCI World Championship Semifinals at Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, Calif. This very special performance from the corps who won the very first Drum Corps International World Championship in 1972 is not something to be missed. The Kingsmen are an integral part of drum corps history, and their appearances during DCI's 35th Anniversary will certainly give fans of this activity a glimpse into its storied past.
