Are you Jonesing to spend more time with some of your favorite corps? Does merely watching a Drum Corps International competition leave you feeling like you're missing something? With three Live Learning Events scheduled this week around each of DCI's Premier Events in Texas, you have the exciting opportunity to hone your skills in brass, percussion, and color guard while also interacting directly with corps members and staff. All three events listed below are free with your ticket to the corresponding event. Friday, July 23, 2:30 p.m. CT Wilcat-Ram Stadium @ Lake Highlands High School Dallas, TX If you're going to the DCI Dallas Premier Event on Friday, July 23, don't miss a Live Learning event with Carolina Crown, starting 2:30 p.m. CT at Wildcat-Ram Stadium in Dallas. Whether you're a student, instructor, or you just want to learn how a drum corps works, you'll receive expert instruction from key clinicians and see the little details of how Carolina Crown prepares for performances while touring.
Friday, July 23, 2:30 p.m. CT The Berry Center Cypress, TX By attending the DCI Houston Premier Event at the Berry Center in Cypress, Texas, you have another chance to learn from and interact with a top drum corps. The Cavaliers will be presenting their version of an educational Live Learning Event starting at 2:30 p.m. CT. Staff and corps members will take attendees through a step-by-step demonstration of a typical rehearsal day. Participants can hone their skills with expert instruction on marching fundamentals, percussion, color guard and brass, and they'll even get question-and-answer sessions to gain further insight into the Cavaliers' rehearsal techniques.
Sunday, July 25, 3 p.m. CT Judson High School Main Theater Converse, TX During day two of the DCI Southwestern Premier Event on Sunday, July 25, you have yet another opportunity to learn from the best: a Live Learning Event led by "Blast!" original cast member and four-time champion snare drummer Jeff Queen. Beginning at 3 p.m. CT in the Judson High School main theater, Queen will present a 90-minute session showcasing his technique, practice methods, and demonstrations of drum corps repertoire. He'll also teach exercises to help percussionists build solo and performance abilities, and host a question-and-answer session. Learn more about all three of these events at DCI.org/learn.
