The Madison Drum and Bugle Corps Association today announced that Bob Wall will be its new executive director. Wall recently retired from the Fairfax County Police Department, where he served as a Master Police Officer and trainer. Wall has also been active is a consultant to the International Chiefs of Police and Virginia Association of Chiefs of Police. During his tenure as an Officer, he was instrumental in developing and overseeing many highly successful safety programs, working in conjunction with companies such as DaimlerChrysler, BMW and Ford Motor Company. Bob is an accomplished and sought-after public speaker and author. His success in developing and leading safety programs earned him the coveted J. Stannard Baker Award, the International Chiefs of Police's highest award in the law enforcement for highway safety activities. A former Madison Scout, Wall has instructed, judged and directed many high school marching bands and winter guards. His guiding philosophy in these endeavors was his belief that the primary objective of any musical youth organization is to provide programs within a positive environment for our youth that emphasize character, social development, leadership, self-discipline and the pursuit of excellence. Wall attributes his lifelong successes to these lessons, which he learned as a marching member of the Scouts, and he looks forward to providing similar experiences for the members, support staff, and volunteers of the Madison Drum and Bugle Corps Association. Wall will begin transitioning into his new role immediately, and will be at the Association Board Election meeting on October 19, 2002.
