The Magic of Orlando performed for approximately 150 kids at "The Hole in the Wall Camp" in Ashford, Conn., on July 1. The camp, started by legendary film actor Paul Newman, serves children who are afflicted with cancer."We brought some enjoyment to some kids who really could use it. They were excited and very pleased," said Magic corps director Rod Owens. The corps marched around the camp in a parade formation, performed in a standstill and finished up with the traditional "America the Beautiful/O Canada" medley. Members of the corps also answered questions from the kids, and demonstrated their instruments. The children, from age 8 to age 15, were mostly from the Boston area, Owens said. The Magic has been asked to perform at the camp in 2003 as well.
