Each year drum corps license hundreds of song titles to create the incredible productions they bring to life on the competition field.

For a number of years, attorney and copyright expert Colby Springer has been on board to help DCI manage the complex and multi-faceted process of music licensing. Springer attended the DCI Annual Meetings this January in Indianapolis to give corps staff and leaders an overview of how they can best manage the ever-changing landscape of copyright law.

“I’ve been doing [copyright law] for close to 20 years and I’ve never been bored a single day doing it,” Springer told DCI News Network host Dan Potter. “It’s because it’s so complex and so fluid and so changing.”
