Cream and crimson abound at Indiana University (IU), but last Friday Memorial Stadium was colored in gravel gray as the replacement of the turf field continues in preparation for the 2008 Drum Corps International World Championships. DCI team members in the area visiting a Carolina Crown rehearsal stopped by to see the field, and witnessed the ongoing construction which has completely stripped the field of turf, so that the underlying gravel base can be smoothed and a new surface can be installed. This process, IU's response to damage caused to the field by recent heavy rains in the Midwest, is underway in time to ensure that the World Championship events scheduled for August 7 to 9 will go ahead as scheduled.
