Work on the installation of new field turf at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington, Ind. nears completion as Drum Corps International counts down the days to the 2008 World Championship events that will take place in the facility Aug. 7-9. Repairs in the stadium have been ongoing after heavy rains in June caused damage to the gravel foundation of the venue's playing surface. Indiana University officials jumped right into action following the damage, overseeing the tear out of the old surface, the leveling of a new gravel base, and the installation of new turf in only a little over 7 weeks. Stadium officials report that workers are still finishing the edges of the new surface, to be completed well in advance of the World Class Quarterfinals which will kick off all Bloomington-based World Championship events on Thursday, Aug. 7.
