From a Troopers press release: The opener takes its name from the title of the program, "The Troopers are Coming!" It is an original composition based on many different components, including "Carriage of the Spirits" (from "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly"), the traditional cavalry bugle calls of "The Chase" (from "A Fistful of Dollars"), "America," "Shenandoah" and "Finishing It" (from the movie "Tombstone"). "Johnny Comes Marching Home" is recognizable at the conclusion of the piece. Following the opener, the pace slows for a moment and takes some material from Michael Martin Murphy's "Sagebrush Symphony," quoting "Down In The Valley," but is followed with a toe-tapping Paul Hart piece called "Rodeo" from a recording by the National Youth Jazz Orchestra. The middle production also includes snippets of "Houston" by David Benoit.
The next section goes into "Riders In The Sky," based on Michael Martin Murphy's version (from "Sagebrush Symphony"), and combines another piece Trooper fans are very familiar with, "Magnificent Seven." The program concludes with a rendition of a familiar bugle call, an orchestrated version of "Taps," based on the version by the United States Marine Band.
Ladies and gentlemen, "The Troopers Are Coming!"
