Mike Nevin has joined the Blue Devils as the front field arranger and instructor, replacing Jeff Lee, who recently resigned after 10 years with the organization. Nevin is a nationally recognized percussion writer, arranger, adjudicator and clinician. He has written for and taught many award-winning percussion ensembles and drumlines around the country, including two-time Winter Guard International Concert Class Champion Gateway High School, and the two-time WGI Independent World Class Champion, Blue Knights Percussion Ensemble. He is currently the director of percussion studies at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Col., and the front ensemble writer/arranger and instructor for the Blue Knights Percussion Ensemble.Nevin is serving his second term as the president of the Board of Directors for the Rocky Mountain Percussion Association and has been a member of the WGI Percussion Advisory Board since 1995. As endorser for the Zildjian Corporation, Nevin has been helping them develop a new line of sticks and mallets for outdoor and indoor marching percussion. He lives in Aurora, Col., where he free-lances as a percussionist in the Denver area and plays tenor and guitar pan regularly with the Pan Jumbies Steel Band.Mike received his Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from Montana State University, where he studied under James B. Campbell and Daniel P.Moore, and he has a masters degree in Percussion Performance from the University of Northern Colorado, where he studied with Gray Barrier.
