New converts: Busy weekend in Kansas

by Drum Corps International

Recently we called on drum corps fans to "spread the word" about drum corps to the uninitiated -- the news story HERE invited longtime fans to become marching music evangelists. Cheri Hanschu sent in this shot.
"This picture was taken following the encore in Wichita, Kan.! Adam, Kacy, Chantalle, Matt, Loc and Janaye were hosted to a busy weekend by Carissa Hanschu, who marched with the Troopers in 2004. On Sunday, they started their weekend in Clearwater with Santa Clara Vanguard, meeting Carissa's bus partner, Sergio Beraun, who is now marching with the Santa Clara Vanguard. Monday, they were able to spend the day in Hutchinson, Kan., with the Troopers! It's hard to say who their favorite corps is as they all took home lots of souvies and great memories. With five playing trumpet, three playing piano and three dancing - who knows where they may end in the drum corps activity!"
Thanks Cheri! We're asking each of you to reach out and spread the word about the drum corps activity. Knock on doors, e-mail, instant message, even yell if you have to -- but this is the summer for you to bring a friend to a DCI show. Bring a digital camera to the show and take a picture with your new drum corps convert at the show, and send it to dave@dci.org -- we'll post pics as they come in under the headline, "New convert." Great seats are still available at most DCI shows. Pick up the phone, make your pitch, and we'll see you on the 50.
