Recently we called on drum corps fans to "spread the word" about drum corps to the uninitiated nvited longtime fans to become marching music evangelists. Scott Miller in this shot. "I have been a drum corps fanatic since I saw my first show in 1986. Amazingly enough, though, my twin sister Nicki had never been to a show. Now that I live in Indy I invited her and her family to come see the greatest show on earth. The photo includes my nephews AJ (freshman tuba player), Wes (first year trumpet), brother-in-law DJ (former trumpet player) and my twin sister Nicki (former guard captain). Needless to say it was an incredible weekend and I am sure that AJ will be marching within a few years. By the way, this photo was taken by my best friend Randy Northcraft, who introduced me to drum corps, and his wife Christie who marched Garfield Cadets in '86 and was our high school marching instructor!" Thanks Scott! We're asking each of you to reach out and spread the word about the drum corps activity. Knock on doors, e-mail, instant message, even yell if you have to -- but this is the summer for you to bring a friend to a DCI show. Bring a digital camera to the show and take a picture with your new drum corps convert at the show, and send it to dave@dci.org -- we'll post pics as they come in under the headline, "New convert." Great seats are still available at most DCI shows. Pick up the phone, make your pitch, and we'll see you on the 50.
