by Drum Corps International

From a Magic press release: James V. Newman will vacate the position as Magic's director to assume full-time responsibility for the operation of Magical Charters, Inc. "After careful consideration," states Newman, "I think I can best serve the organization by devoting my full time and attention as a managing partner of Magical Charters Inc." Magical Charters, Inc. is the bus company that provides transportation services for Magic's camps and summer tour. During the remainder of the year, Magical Charters markets transportation services to various groups in the Central Florida area. "The success of Magical Charters has a direct effect on the success of the corps." said Chief Executive Officer, Bruce Ziegler. "We need a strong leader like Jimmy who can ensure the long term success of Magical Charters." Newman first served in a leadership role with the Magic organization at the end of the 2003 season. He became the corps director at the end of the 2004 season. "It was my pleasure to act as Director for the Magic during the past two summers," Newman explains in a written statement to members, "and I would like to thank the countless people that made these two seasons possible." The Board of Directors will announce plans for a talent search for a replacement director in the near future. In the mean time, CEO Bruce Ziegler will serve as the interim director.
