Hundreds of indoor drum line groups including several with Drum Corps International affiliations competed in Dayton, Ohio this past weekend at the Winter Guard International (WGI) Percussion World Championships. Among the top finishers were members of Oregon Crusaders Indoor who took the gold medal and top honors in the Independent A Finals competition with a score of 95.038. The Blue Knights finished strong in WGI's Independent World division scoring 89.588, which was good enough for ninth place. "The ensemble did an exemplary job this year," said Blue Knights executive director Mark Arnold in a post on the corps' Web site. "The entire membership, director David Killinger and his staff were magnificent. I was especially proud of the leadership and class they all displayed while representing the Blue Knights both here and in Dayton. They were winners both on and off the floor of competition." Pioneer's indoor ensemble finished sixth (82.575) in round two of the Independent Open Prelims competition, with the Velvet Knights' Full Force Percussion close behind in ninth place with a score of 77.325.Check out all WGI Percussion World Championship results and more at WGI.org.
