Orlando, Fla., will be the host city of the 2003 Drum Corps International World Championships. Drum Corps International executive director Dan Acheson made the official announcement at a Drum Corps International contest in Orlando last weekend.The championships will be held from Aug. 4 to 9, 2003 at Citrus Bowl Stadium. Orlando was the site of drum corps championships in 1996, 1997 and 1998."Orlando is a great city, one with a rich drum corps history, and we are absolutely thrilled to be returning there for the championships next year," Acheson said."The large crowd in attendance is certainly going to set the stage for the 2003 championships," said Rod Owens, corps director of the Magic of Orlando. "We are proud to have championships in Orlando next season.""I'm excited! The Blue Devils love going to Florida. We're excited about going back," said Blue Devils corps director David Gibbs.
