From a Pacific Crest press release: Pacific Crest's 2004 production is entitled "On Dangerous Ground," featuring the music of Bernard Herrmann. In the tradition of bringing the best music of stage and screen to the field, the corps hopes to present an entertaining production that will cause a stir within the world of Division I. Herrmann is an unquestioned musical giant of the 20th Century. With 49 full-length film scores, two operas, and numerous other orchestral works to his credit, his brilliant scores are only now getting the public recognition they deserve. Alfred Hitchcock said of Herrmann's scores, "They make good films great, and great films works of art." The corps will begin its competitive season the third week of June with shows in Northern California. The show locations are yet to be determined. The corps' annual Sneak Preview will take place on June 27, and the annual Corps at the Crest show will be held July 3 at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, Calif. In addition to competitive performances, Pacific Crest performs in Fourth of July parades and in concert at a number of community events each year, including the Diamond Bar Anniversary Celebration. "After attending the World Championships for the first time in our history, our staff decided to expand the tour this year to include a full week of travel outside of California," said Stuart Pompel, executive director of Pacific Crest. "With an expanded tour, we will be offer our magnificent students an even greater experience than last year, and all of us are excited about it." The season will include a performance at the Indianapolis Focus Show in addition to shows in Ankeny, Iowa and Omaha, Neb., in the days leading up to DCI World Championships in Denver.
