Phantom Regiment to perform at Special Olympics next summer

by Drum Corps International

From a Phantom Regiment press release: Phantom Regiment will perform at the Opening Cermonies of the Illinois State Special Olympics, to be held June 17, 2005, at Illinois State University in Normal, Ill. The corps was the opening act for this event in 2003 and is excited to return. "Special Olympians share the same ideals as drum corps members," Regiment director Pat Seidling says. "Hard work, team effort and good sportsmanship are the hallmarks of both drum corps and Special Olympics. We couldn't be more proud to be a part of this great event." The corps will do a full-field performance in the Illinois State University stadium as well as provide music for the torch lighting. According to Regiment program coordinator Dan Farrell, "The stands are packed, not just the front-side, but the entire horseshoe-shaped stadium, and the audience is certainly one of the most appreciative we'll see all season."
