Santa Clara Vanguard
(2nd-97.600) won Percussion by just 0.137. The bulk of the corps' deficit to the Devils came from finishing 3rd in Visual Analysis and Brass, scoring 0.525 under Blue Devils in Total General Effect and 0.55 under Blue Devils in Total Visual. Those overall captions accounted for more than the total spread between Vanguard and 2017's World Champion.

Carolina Crown (3rd-96.575) was 3rd in Total General Effect and Total Visual, and 2nd in Total Music. Most noticeable was 6th place in Color Guard, 4th in Percussion, and 1st in Brass and Music Analysis.
