From a Revolution press release by Sonia Ramirez: Jason Harvey has been selected as brass caption head for Revolution in the 2006 season. Harvey, a native of Chattanooga, Tenn., is assistant band director at Carrollton High School in Carrollton, Ga., where he is also the director of the high school jazz band and director of the 5th grade band. Harvey holds a bachelor's degree in music education from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, and is currently pursuing his master's degree from Auburn University. Before coming to Carrollton, Harvey was an assistant director at Ooltewah High School for two years. The Ooltewah band consistently made superior ratings and had many first place finishes as well as finishing in the top 20 bands in the nation at the Bands of America Grand National Championships. In seven years of teaching, Harvey has also been band director at Bradley Central High School in Cleveland, Tenn., (2000-2003) and at Red Bank High School in Chattanooga, Tenn. (1997-1999). From 1999-2000, he worked as a graduate assistant to University of South Carolina director of bands, James K. Copenhaver. Harvey is a former marching member of the Spirit of Atlanta (1990-1992) and a former member of the Cavaliers (1993-1996), where he was drum major in 1996. He was a member of that corps when they won their second World Championship in 1995. After aging out in 1996, he returned to the Cavaliers on the visual staff in 1997. Since 2003, Harvey has been the director of Velocity independent indoor drum line from Chattanooga, Tenn. During that time, Velocity has been a consistent finalist at WGI World Championships and was the PIO Bronze medalist in 2004. He also serves on the board of directors of the Southeastern Color Guard Circuit as one of the four percussion board members. This is his second year on the board and his second year serving as the Percussion Education Administrator of SCGC. "I'm very excited of this upcoming season with Revolution and can't wait to get things started," Harvey said. "I'm also looking forward to working with such a great staff that Revolution has in place." Harvey steps in as Roger Williams, 2005 brass caption head, stepped down to pursue a job relocation and other professional interests in his career.
