From a Blue Stars press release: Michael Rossi will serve as the Blue Stars' 2004 visual caption head. Rossi's talent and experience will help to shape the Blue Stars' 2004 production into a vehicle enjoyed and respected by members, fans and judges alike. Mike Rossi is a doctoral candidate in trumpet performance at the University of North Texas, where he serves as second-chair trumpet for the acclaimed University of North Texas Symphony Orchestra. Rossi marched with the Velvet Knights in 1987 and 1988, and with the Santa Clara Vanguard in 1989. Following his tenure in junior corps, he marched for four years with the U.S. Marine Corps Drum and Bugle Corps. As a performing cast member of "Blast II: Shockwave," he was a featured trumpet soloist. Rossi has a masters in performance from Akron University and is also a substitute for both the Irving Symphony Orchestra and the Plano Symphony Orchestra. "We're very excited to have a third doctoral candidate on staff," commented corps director Bill Sucha. "Rossi's experience as a professional musician with the U.S. Marine Corps and with Blast's Shockwave production will be a great asset to the already outstanding Blue Stars visual program."
