Shanefield joins Crossmen as brass arranger

by Drum Corps International

From the YEA! Web site: Drew Shanefield has been named the brass arranger for the Crossmen in 2004. He will also serve as a consultant to the overall music program. Shanefield has been with the Cavaliers since 1998, serving as the brass caption head, and in recent years, as a program consultant. He arranges brass for bands across the country, and is a judge for the US Scholastic Band Association and Bands of America. Shanefield is a music educator in the Haverford, Pa., school district. Crossmen director Larry Markiewicz said, "I am thrilled to able to again work with Drew. When we were last together with the Cadets, the end result was a Jim Ott trophy and some great memories. It is fabulous to be together again, this time a little older and a bit wiser, we hope. Of course we are in different roles but we look for the same joy, and the same level of excellence we experienced the first time around." Jon Kramer will be the caption supervisor for the Crossmen guard. In the drum corps word, Kramer has most recently been with the Bluecoats. In the band world, Jon has been the caption head at North Penn High School the past couple of seasons. He is a music educator in the Upper Darby, Pa., school district, and he is a graduate of West Chester University. Read more
