In conjunction with the University of Cincinnati Bearcat Band, Varsity Performing Arts & Drum Corps International are pleased to announce that registration is open for the 2021 Fall SoundSport Scholastic National Event Series.
SoundSport Scholastic, an exciting performance showcase program for student musicians and performers created through a partnership between Varsity Performing Arts and Drum Corps International, is extremely excited to announce the University of Cincinnati Bearcat Band as the event partner for the inaugural event series to be held on Saturday, September 25, 2021.
With a focus on safety, education, student achievement, and audience engagement, the SoundSport Scholastic experience provides directors and students with opportunities to collaborate, learn, and celebrate their shared passion for marching music and the performing arts!
SoundSport Scholastic will feature a non-competitive, festival-style assessment model, with ensembles receiving a performance rating in two performance areas, or “captions”: Sights and Sounds. Top adjudicators from across the nation will provide applicable positive, constructive, growth-oriented feedback in each division, based directly off the National Core Arts Standards for music performance. Ensembles will work to achieve a rating of Good, Excellent, or Superior with their performances.
This event will consist of educational clinics for students and directors, the SoundSport Scholastic performance showcase, and performances from the University of Cincinnati Bearcat Band.
