"SEC rivalries will be put aside for the sake of the corps," says returning drum major Matt Souther of Memphis Sound. Souther is from Acworth, Ga., and is a junior at Auburn University where he is also a drum major. His partner on the podium this year will be Chris Goodson, a freshman at the University of Tennessee. Souther and Goodsomn will be on opposing sides of the Georgia Dome at this weekend's SEC Championship Game.

"We are excited about having Matt return to the corps this year in the top leadership spot," said corps director Trey Moore. "Matt is a true leader and a petty fine conductor. You need both qualities in a drum major." Souther, a charter member of the corps, is in his third season with Memphis Sound. Matt was the winner of DCI's Division II "Drum Major of the Year" award this past August in Denver.
Chris Goodson is in his second year with Memphis Sound. He marched a mellophone position this past summer. Goodson, a native of Loudon, Tenn., is a member of the University of Tennessee band, where he plays clarinet.
