"You might want to put your coat on," said one flight attendant to her plane full of passengers as they stepped off the planes at O'Hare and Midway last Friday, Feb. 2, for the coldest Cavalier Winter Camp since about 1995.



Members of the 2007 Cavaliers, some in shorts, light jackets and even flip-flops stepped into the arctic Chicago area for the corps' rehearsal camp this past weekend, not quite knowing what to expect. Having come off an early January camp where the snare, tenor and bass drummers rehearsed outside for an afternoon and brass players casually walked between buildings at Triton College (River Forest, Ill.), while pit members walked back and forth to the equipment truck for their pit instruments and various noise-makers - this camp would be different, to say the least.
