Brent Root
How did you decide to be a member of your corps? My friend Dawn got me into it. I was at her place last year and she told me that the show was about Martha Graham, so I told her to give me Brian Hickmen's phone number. What first attracted you to the drum corps activity? Just my friend Dawn. But what drew me back was the love and compassion that I got. What advice would you give to young people who want to march? Practice. The last good book I read: "Wicked" The last great film I saw: "Fat Albert" Where I go to school and what I'm studying, if applicable: Well, I was going to Kellogg Community College, and I was taking photography classes, but I decided that college isn't for me. Jobs I have/have had: I worked at Arby's in my hometown My favorite TV show: I would have to say "American Idol" Favorite performers: Cher, Madonna and me – hehehe. How do you "blow off steam?" Well, I would have to say that I spin. When I am in a bad mood, I spin my rifle. But when I just want to spin, it's my saber. What has been your formative drum corps moment? Performing at finals -- not to mention the Allentown performance (last year when the Glassmen performed in a downpour). Best drum corps show ever: Allentown -- most definitely. What are you most looking forward to about the summer? Seeing everyone -- and getting to work with such great teachers Best thing about being in a drum corps: Learning and performing. Worst thing about being in a drum corps: The fact that you are in a line for EVERYTHING!

During tour, the best part of the day is: When Dan's mother would go out to the field with lemonade. But it wasn't the lemonade I loved -- it was the ice that was with it. Very good.

During tour, the worst part of the day is: When you realize that there is only five minutes left till you are done for the day -- it takes forever! What I want to be when I "grow up": I want to be a firefighter. Hehehe, just kidding -- I want to be a photographer or a dancer -- just as long as I can express myself through what I do. Describe what you think a typical DCI show will look in 2015. I honestly cannot answer that.
