Julianne Beisswenger
Where do you go to school, and what extracurricular activities are you involved with there? Last year I went to St. Cloud State University in Minnesota. This past October I moved to Dayton, Ohio, to march with the Pride of Cincinnati winter guard.^ The last good book I read: The last good book would be the book I read over and over again, "Little Women." I will never get tired of that book. The last great film I saw: "50 First Dates"! It has Adam Sandler, need I say more? Three CDs I'd want on a deserted island: Britney Spears' "In The Zone," Evanescence's "Fallen," Jack Johnson's "On and On" My favorite TV show: That's an easy question, definitely "Friends"! How do you "blow off steam?" Lay down with a good CD in and just chill or go shopping Why I march with the corps I am in: I march with SCV because of the traditions they have and the second family I have met. Was it always your goal to be in a leadership role? I wouldn't really call it a goal, but I always thought of it as a great honor. What has been your formative drum corps moment? My first year marching with SCV and hearing the corps play "Send in the Clowns." It was the moment it actually sunk in that I was a member of SCV.
Best drum corps show ever: SCV 1999, Star of Indiana 1993. What are you most looking forward to about the summer? Getting to do what I love, working hard, and feeling that sense of "home" 12 hours a day for three months. Best thing about being a drum corps leader: I get to give back to an organization that has given me so much. Worst thing about being a drum corps leader: Having to ask people to do the things you also hate doing during the summer -- like carrying the radio, taping equipment, etc. During tour, the best part of the day is: Walking onto the performance field and feeling the rush of when the music starts. During tour, the worst part of the day is: Packing up my stuff when we are leaving a school, eating, showering, and getting ready for a performance all in 45 minutes! Favorite drum corps personality and why: Every member and staff member of SCV's color guard, because there is not one personality alike and that makes for a fun summer. What do you want to be when your drum corps career is over? I still want to be involved with color guard in some way. I would like to finish school and get a business degree and be a wedding consultant.
