The hardest nine days

by Drum Corps International

This picture is from Dawn Van Epps, a 2006 volunteer for the Madison Scouts.

I was lucky enough to work with the Madison Scouts for nine days on their cook crew. They were the hardest nine days I have spent working at any job, but also the most rewarding nine days ever! This is a picture of myself and my nephew Eric Butteris (in uniform) and a very good family friend Ben Timm. Both are Madison Scout contras. I left the crew right after the Battle Creek (Mich.) show and I counted the days until they returned "home" for the DCI World Championships in Madison.

Thanks, Dawn!
