Tour withdrawal is something almost everyone has to deal with. As the cold weather and first frost has set in, my tour withdrawal has hit me really hard. I do everything from look at pictures to practice the new marching technique the Colts will use to watching and listening to at least five or six shows a day. But there are many things to look forward to.

At the beginning of the month of October, many corps will finish getting audition information on their Web sites. Prospective members then can begin or even finish the search for the corps that they hope to march with when we head to Denver in '04.

The corps are also very busy preparing for the audition camps and preseason that are coming up very soon. Many have been announcing their staff changes on DCI's Web site, or on their own Web site. Some corps are making changes to their policies (the Colts, for instance, will now be allowing males in their color guard). As the off-season leads us closer and closer to audition camps, some corps will start to announce their shows for the 2004 season. Santa Clara Vanguard, for instance, has really helped to tease people in the off-season by announcing their show title for next season already.

Now it's your turn to help the activity. The off-season is the best time to recruit people for next season. This is especially for marching band members and music educators. Let's help guarantee a bright future for drum corps by getting people interested in it now!
