From a Troopers press release:

Troopers executive director Mike Ottoes recently announced the hire of a new corps director. Frederick Morris has been hired by the organization to lead the corps back to the field of Drum Corps International competition.

Morris is no stranger to the drum corps activity. For the past two seasons, he was a part of the Troopers touring sheep wagon souvenir operation. With his assistance, the sheep wagon recorded its most successful sales summer in 2004.

Prior to jumping on board the sheep wagon, Morris was a member of the Bluecoats percussion staff from 1986 through 1991. Starting in 1992, he took an active role in the sales and marketing aspect for the Bluecoats and served on its board of directors.

Morris was a member of several bands and drum corps including the Warren Jr. Military Band, Erie Thunderbirds and the Reading Buccaneers. Morris also has been actively involved in community organizations and has served on the board of directors at Hickory High School Band Boosters and Shenango Valley Performing Arts. He was a member of the Shenango Valley Chorale and Shenango Valley Orchestra and a member of the D.A.R.E. program sponsored by the Hermitage Police Department.

In the coming weeks, Morris will be relocating to Casper, Wyo. Once settled, he will be charged with coordinating educational staff hiring, membership recruiting efforts, community outreach and a host of other duties related to the day to day operation of the Troopers.
