Volunteers assist fans at Lucas Oil Stadium
during the DCI World Championships.
Drum Corps International is currently recruiting volunteers to join Team DCI for the 2013 DCI World Championships in Indianapolis! Beginning Wednesday, Aug. 7 through Saturday, Aug. 10, we are in need of dedicated and hardworking individuals to lend a helping hand at Lucas Oil Stadium, Georgia Street and the Crowne Plaza to assist with the World Championships and other special events. Register to volunteer at the DCI World Championships. Highlights of this year's events in Downtown Indy, all of which will require volunteer assistance, include:

Wednesday, August 7
  • Individual & Ensemble Championship presented by System Blue in a brand new outdoor location on Georgia Street
  • Kickoff Party and Hall of Fame Induction which includes a short ceremony, entertainment, a silent auction and more
Thursday, August 8
  • World Championship Prelims competition at Lucas Oil Stadium featuring the performances of more than 35 drum corps
Friday, August 9
  • World Championship Semifinals at Lucas Oil Stadium featuring the 25 advancing corps from Thursday's Prelims
Saturday, August 10
  • Friends of DCI donor breakfast and DrumLine Battle and SoundSport festival on Georgia Street
  • World Championship Finals competition at Lucas Oil Stadium featuring the top 12 drum corps vying for Championship title
To help organize this massive undertaking, DCI has partnered with The Registration System. TRS online software is the market's most popular solution for online ticketing, event registration and volunteer management. Developed by event planners for event planners, TRS is the online engine behind North America's biggest and most successful events. "DCI is once again thrilled to be using TRS this year for our Championship volunteer and special event registrations," DCI Manager of Event Operations Whitney Medworth said. "Utilizing the same system that the Indy Super Bowl Committee used to organize volunteers in 2012 gives us a high level of confidence and efficient means to run our events." Benefits that World Championship volunteers can enjoy include:
  • Some positions will put you within view of the corps performances or corps warm up sites
  • Some shifts include a complimentary meal if working consecutive shifts
  • Volunteers will receive a wristband that is valid for access to the events at that location for the entire day, so before or after your shift, you may enjoy the competition
  • Complimentary parking at the Lucas Oil Stadium auxilliary parking lot west of the stadium
  • Official World Championships event volunteer T-shirt
The consistency of service delivered to the performing corps members and fans is greatly enhanced when volunteers return over multiple days, so if you're able and willing to volunteer for multiple days, this is encouraged! We'll have team leaders and event staff onsite to ensure you get to the right place at the right time, and volunteers to relieve you when a break is needed! Requirements include that volunteers be 18 years or older. We also ask that volunteers attend one of two orientation sessions for an introduction to Drum Corps International, the DCI World Championships and what we aim to accomplish during our week of events. Orientation sessions are as follows:
  • Tuesday, August 6 at DCI Headquarters (110 W. Washington St. Suite C) from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Wednesday, August 7 at Lucas Oil Stadium from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
As always, we thank you for your interest in working with Team DCI as a World Championships volunteer! If you have questions, please contact us at volunteer@dci.org.
