A storm is brewing over Denver.

Two undefeated corps are heading toward INVESCO Field at Mile High on a collision course. The Blue Devils have dominated competition in the West, seeking out a lucky 13th title with a most unconventional program in "Constantly Risking Absurdity." The Cavaliers, meanwhile, have claimed everything east of the Rockies as their territory this season, cutting down all challengers with their "Samurai" production as they look to crown themselves champions yet again in their 60th anniversary year.

The Blue Devils and Cavaliers won't be the only corps out for each other's necks in Denver, however. Phantom Regiment and the Santa Clara Vanguard have fought mind, body, and soul over placement in the last week, modernism versus classical clashing in a rivalry almost as old as Drum Corps International. Perhaps only the Blue Knights will stand alone on Saturday, hometown heroes celebrating 50 years of excellence. The Madison Scouts, 70 years young this season, and Troopers, with their own 50 years of history, have traded blows and flipped positions repeatedly, while the Mandarins will look to gain momentum with their "The River" program, even while headed precariously upstream.

For the first time this season, the Blue Devils, winningest corps in Drum Corps International, versus the Cavaliers, the Green Machine, a medalist every year this decade.
