From a Revolution press release: Roger Williams has been named brass caption head of the Revolution. Williams began his career in music in his hometown of Richardson, Texas. He earned a degree from the University of Texas at Austin in music education with a trumpet performance certificate. He also holds a master's degree in trumpet performance from Stephen F. Austin State University. He has performed with and advised the Hella Shrine drum and bugle corps, receiving outstanding soloist and ensemble awards in 2002 and 2003. In addition to these awards, he has performed in various styles as an orchestral soloist andhestra section member, with jazz bands and wind ensembles throughout Texas. "Roger has the educational background and experience to bring the best out of our brass performers," said Revolution director GM Kuzma. "I'm very confident in his abilities to lead a strong brass staff for Revolution in 2005." Other teaching experiences range from working with numerous high school programs as well as indoor drum lines and with a wide range of experience levels, from beginners to the college ranks. This includes his work with his own private studio which he has had since 1998. Currently, he is working with the Lorena Independent School District Bands, as an assistant band director and marching/brass specialist working with grades 6-12. As brass caption head, Williams will be responsible for developing and leading Revolution's brass staff.
