From a Memphis Sound press release: Patrick Sheridan, a world-renowned tuba soloist and entertainer from Phoenix, will join the Memphis Sound from April 1-3, 2005, for a weekend rehearsal camp at Arlington High School. As a former member of "The President's Own" United States Marine Band, he thrilled audiences across the United States with his amazing virtuosity and musicianship as one of the band's primary soloists. He is equally at home with standard classical repertoire and as an entertainer in the "pops" realm. Sheridan will bring his "breathing gym" pedagogy to the entire corps. His methods are designed to increase airflow and stamina, improve tone and breath control, reduce body tension, and raise energy level and focus. Area band directors are invited to the camp for a special music educators' introduction to the breathing gym. Memphis Sound is pleased to have such a world-class musician and facilitator like Patrick Sheridan join us for rehearsal. Hold on to your hats . . . it will be a wild, productive, and entertaining weekend! For more on Patrick Sheridan, you can visit patricksheridan.com.
