INDIANAPOLIS — The annual Drum Corps International Tour features breathtaking entertainment, brought to life by teams of up to 165 remarkable student musicians and performers performing on NFL stadium-sized stages throughout the country. The individuals contributing to the standard-setting success of the world’s finest marching music ensembles are incredibly talented in their own right, and will be celebrated this August in a whole new way.
As these corps converge in Indianapolis for the 2023 DCI World Championships this August, solo performers and small derivative ensembles from within the ranks of these standard-setting groups can claim their time in the spotlight in the first-ever “DCI’s Got Talent” Showcase, taking place at the SoundSport International Music & Food Festival on Saturday, August 12, 2023, adjacent to Lucas Oil Stadium.
“For many years, DCI has supported and produced an “Individual & Ensemble” (I&E) competition, which has yielded many remarkable and entertaining performances,” says David Eddleman, coordinator of the DCI’s rapidly-growing SoundSport program. “A number of logistical challenges have precluded us from staging the traditional I&E event the past few years, so we’re preparing a new format for the event to provide a new generation of performers the opportunity to showcase their talents in front of enthusiastic audiences.”
To encourage participation in this non-adjudicated event, performers can register to perform on a first-come, first-served basis with no registration fee on the special “Showcase Stage” located just steps from the main entrance to the stadium.

“This year’s SoundSport International Music & Food Festival will feature the first-ever ‘DCI Block Party,’ providing thousands of potential event attendees with numerous opportunities to celebrate together on the final day of the 2023 DCI World Championship,” Eddleman said. “There is no doubt that this talent showcase will add to an already festive atmosphere and will enable us to shine a spotlight on creative and captivating performances from talented young people from around the world.”
