DCI Hall of Fame member Freddy Martin and Boston Symphony trumpeter Mike Martin will join the Academy’s staff in 2011 as brass consultants and instructors.

The Blue Knights are looking for a few volunteers this coming Sunday, Oct. 10, to help unload its equipment and food trailers in preparation for the winter season.
Bluecoats

Bluecoats

The Bluecoats have kicked off their Club Blue fundraising campaign with a challenge for the month of October. The organization is looking to “raise at least $10,000 in the 10th month of 2010 by donating in $10 increments.” Those donating $30 or more will receive a special bronze medalist travel mug commemorating the corps’ third place finish at this year’s World Championships.

Boston Crusaders fans: The corps has launched a new Facebook page just for you. Log into your Facebook account and click the corps’ “Like” button to stay up to date on the latest news and info from the group.
The Cadets

The Cadets

This week the Cadets debuted a new recruitment video showcasing interviews and footage from the summer of 2010. The 10-minute piece takes prospective members “where every Cadet resides – an untouchable place that dwells in the heart and stays with you for the many years that follow.”

Colts

The Colts released a schedule of key dates for the 2011 season. It all gets started the weekend of Nov. 26-28 with an audition camp in the corps’ hometown of Dubuque, Iowa.

Crossmen

The Crossmen will bring in Lee Beddis and Andrew Markworth as percussion arrangers for the 2011 season.
Genesis

Genesis

Genesis’ 2010 brass, percussion and visual caption heads will all return to their positions with the corps in 2011. “We take pride in the education level both musically and physically that we offer our members. Keeping a consistent staff is key to making sure we not only offer the best opportunities, but also improve from year to year,” said Executive Director Chris Magonigal.

Glassmen

Sal Salas has been named the Director of Programs and Staff Development for the Glassmen. He has been involved in various capacities with the corps for 15 years. “This is the logical next step in Sal’s involvement with the corps, and promises to be a very exciting and positive shift in operations for the organization,” said Executive Director Brian Hickman. “He is perfect for the job, and it has been a long time in coming.”
Jersey Surf

Jersey Surf

Due to a last minute facilities cancelation, the Jersey Surf has rescheduled its November audition camp from Thanksgiving weekend to one week earlier, Nov. 19-21.
Madison Scouts

Madison Scouts

The Madison Scouts will host their annual board meeting on Friday, Oct. 29. President Jeff Manion and Executive Director Chris Komnick will “recap the 2010 fiscal year for the organization and give a ‘state of the corps’ leading into 2011.”

Music City

Music City announced its 2011 production titled “Let’s Dance!” According to a release on the corps’ website, “Even though music and visual styles will vary widely throughout the show, the program will be made up entirely of tunes famous for their association with dance.”

Pacific Crest has an updated “member guide” available for download on its website for prospective members of the corps.
Phantom Regiment

Phantom Regiment

Phantom Regiment will bring in a few fresh and familiar faces to its visual staff for the 2011 season. Among the new hires are K.C. Michel (visual coordinator), Jamey Thompson (drill designer), David Veda (color guard caption manager), K.C. Perkins (color guard co-caption head) and Tricia Gooley-Rarick (color guard co-caption head).

Pioneer

Pioneer has brought on Rick Morey to serve as its visual show designer for its 50th anniversary production titled “Celebrate.”
Santa Clara Vanguard Cadets

Santa Clara Vanguard Cadets

The Vanguard Cadets posted a tentative winter camp schedule. The 2011 season will kick off for the’08 Open Class World Champs with an audition camp in the Santa Clara/San Jose area Dec. 10-12.
Teal Sound

Teal Sound

Teal Sound is mourning the loss of former member Calvin Washington who passed away in August. He was a member of the corps’ front ensemble in 2007.
Troopers

Troopers

The Troopers will co-sponsor the University of Wyoming Marching Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 9 in Laramie. “We are excited to partner with the university to offer this opportunity for area youth once again, said Director Fred Morris. “It is another step in the corps’ current direction to work more locally during the school year with Wyoming youth.”
Velvet Knights

Velvet Knights

The Velvet Knights held their annual board of directors meeting at the end of September in Orange, Calif. The organization is still looking to fill one position on the board for a one-year term.
