Monday Morning Drum Major will put a brief spotlight on the personalities in the drum corps universe. We'll run it each Monday (obviously). As reported here last week, both Brian and Julie Hickman (Brian is the director of the Glassmen) and Ricky and Tracy Fritzsching (the DCI.org multimedia husband-and-wife team) were expecting children any second. Both families had baby girls within about 10 hours of each other! In chronological order: Meghan Elizabeth Hickman was born at around 12:45 p.m. and weighed 7 lbs., 1 oz. The Hickmans are doing "great," according to Janet from the Glassmen office, and Meghan is "adorable." Meghan and her parents are adjusting at home in Maumee, Ohio. Meanwhile, the Fritzschings welcomed Ashley Marie Fritzsching to the drum corps world at around 11 p.m. that same day. Ashley weighed 9 lbs. All are doing well down in beautiful suburban Cypress, Texas. "I survived the first night at home!" Ricky said this morning.

Congrats to everyone! I'm sure famed DCI contest coordinator/cigar aficionado Tony DiCarlo will be lighting up a stinky stogie in your honor sometime later today. A Blue Devils programming note Ravenous Blue Devils fans have been itching for information about their 2006 program for weeks now. Well, they'll have to wait two more days, according to BD director Dave Gibbs. The Blue Devils show will be announced this Wednesday. Stay tuned to DCI.org for further details. Learn more about dance with the Blue Knights Anyone in the Denver area interested in how dance can be incorporated into the drum corps idiom? You should look into taking classes at the Blue Knights dance academy. They're offering classes like "Essential Movement for Winds and Percussion" and "Intermediate/Advanced Modern Guard Dance" that are sure to improve your skill set. Rob Billings, a 19-year Blue Knights teaching veteran, is the dance academy's artistic director. Do you have an item worthy enough for mention on Monday Morning Drum Major?
